The Best Locations for Your Maternity, Newborn, or Family Session in Coastal NC
Finding the perfect backdrop for your session is just as important as choosing the right photographer. 1. My Studio – The Perfect Cozy Space
Located in Hampstead, NC, just 10 minutes outside of Wilmington, my studio is a warm and welcoming space designed for comfort and ease. Originally a garage, we converted it into a quaint photography studio during Covid, and it has since become one of my most loved spots.

If you’re craving a quiet and dreamy coastal setting, Serenity Point at the south end of Topsail Island is just what you’re looking for. The name says it all—this spot is peaceful, picturesque, and perfect for capturing natural moments.

- Low crowds – making it ideal for intimate sessions.
- Easy parking – a rare treat for beach locations!
- Variety of landscapes – from rolling dunes to calm intercoastal waters, this spot offers multiple backdrops for your gallery.
- Breathtaking sunsets – the reflections off the water create a dreamy glow that enhances every shot.
3. Wrightsville Beach (North End) – A Coastal Classic
Wrightsville Beach is one of the most iconic locations in the Wilmington area, and the North End is my go-to spot. While parking can sometimes be a challenge, this area offers more flexibility than other parts of the beach.
What makes this location special?
- Dual backdrops – on one side, you have pristine sandy beaches and dunes; on the other, a stunning marsh that reflects the sunset.
- Gorgeous 360-degree sunset views – the light here is simply unbeatable.
- Expect to get sandy! – but trust me, the results are worth it.
4. Holly Shelter Game Land – Rustic Piney Vibes
Not a beach person? No worries! Holly Shelter Game Land offers an entirely different feel with its towering pine trees and rustic charm. This location is perfect for families or maternity sessions looking for a more woodsy, earthy aesthetic. The natural light filtering through the trees creates a magical glow that enhances every shot.
